I came across this article (follow my link through Digg) from USAToday that talks about the ways that credit card companies are going after college students to sign up with them. College students are the perfect target because they are: a) Poor b) Competitive (need to go bigger and better with everything) and c) Desparate. All that makes for students signing up in big numbers and blowing away money on things they don’t need, just because they have the credit to do so.

My advice: Stay away from credit cards. Or if you must have one, make sure you pay off the full balance each month. If you pay just the minimum, you’ll be eating interest costs for far too long!
