If you’re anything like me you have opened and closed many different bank accounts over the years. Perhaps you may have even forgotten you had a bank account and it was closed due to a lack of activity on the account. If this has happened to you, then you might be able to make some easy money!

Many states have a searchable database for you to use to find lost or forgotten money. If you don’t know what your state’s site is then start here: http://www.unclaimed.org/

That site will allow you to search for your name at many different (but not all) states. If you find a match for your name and city then you might have some money to claim! You then fill out the claim form and also submit the required documentation and you are on your way!

I just did my search and found that I had a bank account that still owes me $35! It’s not much, but that is a really easy way to make money! I just filled out the paperwork and I will mail it off later today. All I needed to include was a copy of my driver’s license and my social security number. It’s going directly to the state Treasurer’s Office so it is safe (of course assuming it doesn’t get lost or stolen while in the mail).
