This is a follow-up to yesterday’s post. Another way you can save money on textbooks is not buying books at all! You probably haven’t checked, but your school library probably has copies of most textbooks that your classes will use.

Textbooks typically account for your highest expenses outside of tuition and your room and board. This is especially true if you buy your books at the local college book store. Sure, it is convenient to be able to walk to your student union and buy your books, but at what cost?

You more than likely already have a savings account at your local bank. There’s one problem with this: the interest rate sucks! You really need to consider opening a new online savings account. With these, you can usually get a rate 8-15 times higher than the rate at a small local bank. They are really easy to use as well! There are many different companies out there that you can do this with. I personally have experience with Emigrant Direct, ING Direct, and HSBC. I would recommend each of them.

Rock Bottom Prices on Magazines

Earlier this month, I posted some information in regards to finding free magazines. What if you can’t find the magazine you’re looking for on that site? Well, you can either go and pay full price, or you can do the following.

Save Even More on Groceries

In a recent post I pointed you to some good price book resources as well as a great website that will supplement your coupon use very well.
